Today I went to the park with my little :) It was such a gorgeous day out today. The sun was shining and at one point it was even kind of warm. Of course I had my camera along with me. I used my 85 a lot to snap the photos of her playing with geese. It allowed me to get some nice photos without getting too close and allowing her to do her thing while I snapped away. I am happy with how a lot of the photos came out. It was fun. :) I think I got hissed at by at least 5 or 6 different geese. Some of them were fighting with their necks and doing the silliest things. Anyway! I am really enjoying this new type of simplistic photography I have stumbled upon. It's very photojournalistic and simple and I feel like every photo tells a story or takes you to a situation that you can imagine in your own head.

I am happy with the direction I am taking my photography :) Oh yes, and my interview on Monday went well with the design company. I might be doing band shoots. How awesome is that? I have been wanting to do a band shoot for a couple months now. Oh the ideas I would have for those poor souls to do. :)

Ah. I had an awesome day today :) I have a lot of time on my hands on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I actually got to put make-up on and look semi-decent for my 365 photo today. On top of that, I found this awesome natural light inside of my dorm. I have no idea why I didn't think of this before. Downstairs in the main lobby area/study area there is a bunch of old furniture and these giant windows that leak in a lot of natural light. It's perfect because on days like today where the temperature is in the 20's it allows me to stay inside while still getting really good light. There are seriously so many neat places to shoot down there. Old chairs galore. Couches. Rooms. A piano. I am so excited to get the most out of that room. Funny enough I took this photo in my room, but this isn't my 365 photo. I thought it was pretty, though :) So I put it up on here. Well, I have class and then dinner with a friend and then a 6 page paper to write. Ah :(

Successfully completed day two of my 365 project :) This isn't the photo I took, obviously. I took this photo yesterday so it wouldn't qualify for the 365 project. It looks like some pretty chaotic weather tomorrow. It's another day that I have a really big gap in my day so it would be a perfect chance to get some shooting in, but the weather might keep me indoors. I seriously can't wait for warmer weather :(

I kind of like this photo of myself. I look like I should be in a catalog for peacoats or something. LOL!

I don't have much to say. Just wanted to make sure I came and blogged :)

I got little to no sleep last night. I couldn't get my eyes to shut and stay shut. So what do I do in my unwanted bout of insomnia? I put make-up on. I had nothing better to do! Why not? So I had my makeup on and I ended up falling asleep shortly after. I awoke around 8 and decided today would be a good day to go shooting. So that's what I did. I took a lot of photos that I enjoyed, but I can't wait until the weather begins to warm up so I can take photos of other people and not just myself. It's hard to find people who want to pose for photos in 20 degree weather. Only I am crazy enough to do such a thing :)

On another note, I am beginning the 365 project. I am gonna let you sit and ponder for a second what this project might entail.

Done guessing? It's one photo of yourself every day for an entire year. I have attempted (and failed) many a times. I have gotten some recent inspiration and am hoping to use that inspiration to keep me going throughout this project.

Wish me luck!

I feel generally down right at this moment. Not even with my life. My life is going really well and I'm relatively stress free. I just hate to see the people I care about most in the world hurting. And to make matters worse it's getting cold again which limits where and when I can go shooting. I want warm weather so I can take photos of everything. I want to take the world in with my lens. I took this photo while cruising downtown Chicago with my love. I wonder if he ever gets annoyed at the incessant snap of my shutter. I played with the contrast. It was really blah looking due to the fact that I shot through a windshield. I also played with some color layers adding red and purple and played with the blue curve to add some yellow and blue. I am happy with the result.

I have a massive gap in my day tomorrow. Maybe I will go shooting. If it's not too cold. I also need to exercise. I have been feeling like working out a lot lately, but these ridiculous headaches I have been getting are making it hard to do much of anything. I think I need to get my eyes checked.

I really enjoy Joshua Radin. Check out his music if you have a chance. <3

Yesterday Justin and I went to Chicago for Valentine's Day. It was probably the funnest day I have had in a really long time. It was like all of my favorite things wrapped up into one day. He usually doesn't like having his picture taken, but I managed to sneak this photo in while he was talking on the phone and driving around downtown Chicago. I did some color editing. I like it a lot. I love how he always curls his pinky whenever he talks on the phone :)

I had the worst of headaches today. I don't know what has been wrong with my headaches lately. I used to never get them and when I did, they were weak enough to just push through without taking aspirin or anything. But now they hurt so bad that they make me feel nauseous. Anyway, this has little to do with photography except that it prevented me from going out today and enjoying the weather. Granted it was pretty darn windy, but I could have gotten some photo taking in. It doesn't help that I only got an hour of sleep last night studying for biology and needed a nap really bad today. I think that also played into the reason for why I didn't spend much time outside today. ANYWAY, I have wanted to do a classic B&W selp portrait for some time now. I took this photo a couple days ago and didn't think much of it until I was reviewing other photos I took that day. I really love the look on my face and I knew it would look good as B&W. I used my 50 1.8. I might try another portrait sometime with my 85 when the weather gets much warmer and I can get the distance I need when it comes to the 85.

News. I was contacted and asked if I would be interested in doing some photography for a small design company that a friend of a friend works at. Neat, huh? I am excited. Hopefully it works out and even if it doesn't, it makes me feel good that someone likes my photography enough to consider it for publication.

Hey. I made the unfortunate mistake of not taking full advantage of the gorgeous weather yesterday. I spent a lot of my time indoors and now it is raining. It has been raining since last night and it shows no sign of stopping any time today. Since it's so gloomy out and I don't want to risk hurting my camera I did an indoor shot today. A rain themed shot :) Not a whole lot of editing as far as the actual photo goes. I just had to remove some clutter in the bottom right corner and the Texas picture I keep on my wall. I also took out the tag on the umbrella. Once I was done with that I added a texture layer and had some fun with the curves and added a bunch of color layers switching between overlay, soft light, and lighten. Time to go to class now :)

So, today was gorgeous. I could have walked around in flip flops all day and would have been just fine. It was amazing. On top of that, I finally brought my tri-pod and battery charger back from home which means I am free to shoot at will. And that's exactly what I did :) I started out by snapping a photo inside my room with only the natural light that comes in through my dorm window. I have a before and after showing the editing I do on my photos. I keep my walls as bare as I can so I have a nice blank wall for photos and such, but it's not always easy to get everything out of the way, but it's easy to remove objects like the ones in the before photo. Anyway, once I was done taking that photo I went to my classes for the day, but had a really hard time paying attention. Like usual, all I could think about was getting back to my camera to take photos. It's bordering on obsession :) Anyway, I got back to my room and grabbed all my gear and headed off to the park to take some photos. UNFORTUNATELY, I forgot my wireless remote which made it close to impossible to take ANY photos with anything other than my kit lens. WOOF. I got a couple good shots in, though. Luckily the weather looks like it's going to be nice again tomorrow so I might just be back at the park taking photos again. And I this time, I won't forget my remote. :)
